Eight ranks attached to the Presidential Guard Unit have tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). This was disclosed by the Guyana Police Force via a press statement.
The press release said the tests were conducted randomly on the ranks within the guidelines given by the Public Health Ministry.
Those ranks who tested positive are “currently convalescing in quarantine.”
To date, Guyana has a total of 125 cases of the coronavirus coupled with 10 deaths and 47 recoveries. There have been 1,295 tests conducted with 68 persons in institutional isolation and six in institutional quarantine.
